When this multi-generation family farm in Danville, PA needed to modernize their operation, they weren't looking for just another barn—they needed a comprehensive agricultural facility that could handle everything from equipment storage to grain operations. The solution was a 100x180x22 post-frame building engineered to maximize vertical and horizontal space. We designed a 20x100 basement level for specialized equipment, topped with a 20x85 mezzanine featuring 15 feet of completely open front space for unrestricted equipment movement. The real innovation shows in the door configuration: seven overhead doors ranging from 10x10 to 24x18, each strategically placed for different operational needs. Four 20x18 Amarr doors handle day-to-day equipment flow, while two 24x18 CHI swing-up doors accommodate the largest machinery. All doors feature insulated windows and high-lift tracks with 50-inch headroom—critical for modern agricultural equipment. The exterior combines functional green roofing and trim with clean bone white siding, crowned by three 48-inch cupolas with weathervanes that provide ventilation while honoring traditional farm architecture. Two sets of stairs with railings ensure safe mezzanine access, and generous 24-inch overhangs protect operations in any weather. The finished 6x20 front porch proves that even hardworking agricultural buildings can maintain curb appeal.
