STEP 1

Fire up the Building Designer

Ready to get started? Just hit the "Design Your Own" button at the top or bottom of this page and we'll get your project rolling.

Before you dive in:

  • This tool packs some serious planning power, so you'll need a decent internet connection. If you're on slower internet, just hang tight—it's worth the wait.
  • For the best experience, use Google Chrome on your desktop or laptop. Trust us, trying to design a building on your phone isn't going to give you the results you want.
STEP 2

Size it up

Once the planner loads, the first thing you'll want to tackle is getting your building dimensions and roof style dialed in. Can't decide on the size? No problem—you can adjust these in real-time and see exactly how your building will look:

  • Width
  • Length
  • Height
  • Roof type

Keep in mind:

  • Our building widths go up in 6-foot increments
  • Lengths increase in 8-foot increments
STEP 3

Pick your colors

Now for the fun part—making your building look exactly how you want it. Time to choose your color scheme:

  • Roof color
  • Wall color
  • Trim color
  • Wainscot color

Quick note:

  • We typically install wainscot at 3 feet high. Need it different? Just let us know in the notes section when you submit your design.
STEP 4

Add the Finishing Touches

This is where your building really starts coming together. You can add all the extras that make your building work for you:

  • Overhangs
  • Cupolas
  • Eave lights
  • Lean-to additions

Here's what you need to know:

  • You can choose one-foot or two-foot overhangs right in the planner.
  • Planning multiple cupolas? The tool automatically centers any four-foot cupola if you're adding smaller ones too.
STEP 5

Porch It Up (If You Want)

Some folks want a porch, some don't—it's totally up to you and what fits your vision. If you're thinking porch, it's simple as checking the box for what style you want:

  • Standard porch
  • Wrap porch
  • Wrap hip porch
STEP 6

Windows and Doors That Work for You

Need to let some light in or add access points? This step has you covered with plenty of options to choose from:

  • 3x4 window
  • 3x4 window with shutters
  • Solid walk door
  • 9-lite walk door
  • Dutch door
  • Overhead garage door
  • Sliding door
  • And more

If your building doesn't need windows or doors, just skip ahead to step seven.

STEP 7

Finish the Inside

Want to see how you'll use the space inside? Click 'Interior' and start customizing:

  • Division walls
  • Perimeter walls
  • Ceiling options

Pro tip: Use the scaled items feature to drop equipment, vehicles, or furniture into your design. It's a great way to make sure your building will actually fit everything you need.
